This year, the Annual MacMillan Cancer Support coffee morning was taken on by Shirley Dobbins – and what a successful morning it was!  Number 3, Penmaen Walk, was bursting at the seams and tables laden with cake of every variety, not to mention limitless coffee. 

Shirley had managed to surround herself with such able helpers and supporters and Chloe and her friends made the most amazing cakes and cup cakes; what a joy to see the young people helping out and doing it so well too!.

I must say I was grateful to Anne for ensuring that my plate was rarely empty and my cup frequently refilled.

There was also a very impressive raffle . . . with so many prizes, (did anyone not win a prize?).

As an aside, it is truly amazing just who you may encounter at such activities, as this particular event  ‘reunited’ two old friends of 60 years ago.  They certainly had some news to catch up on.

So, a huge “Thank You” to Shirley and family for a lovely ‘calorie enriched’ morning, for a lot of fun and whilst doing so, successfully raising the amazing sum of £500.20 for such an important and worthwhile cause.  Brilliant!
